The men and women living on the streets of Birmingham deal with a myriad of problems. Some suffer from addiction, some suffer from mental illness, some are victims of domestic violence, and some suffer from a combination of these afflictions. To truly address these issues, each person must first be known and loved as someone created in God’s image. They must meet and know the love of Christ by first experiencing care and love from individuals who will embrace them where they are and as they are. Only by building a one-on-one relationship with these individuals can we understand their specific situation, meet their basic needs, and help them rebuild their lives.
